The existing Doornfontein energy centre was designed and constructed in the early 1990’s at the inception of MTN’s mobile phone network service.

Subsequent advances in the fields of electrical, mechanical & data centres has led to the need arising for an upgrade of the existing facilities. The upgrade included an extension of the available data space with the necessary upgrade and extension of the accompanying electrical and mechanical services.

The energy centre upgrade includes the installation of a tri-generation plant which is fed by Egoli gas. This installation contributes to the energy efficiency of the entire facility. ProjectWorks have seamlessly carried out this mayor alteration in a live data centre environment through meticulous planning and rigorous quality control.
